A Tulsa man is accused of beating a dog to death with a log over the weekend, according to police.

A woman called police around 8 p.m. Sunday in the area of I-244 and Utica and said her neighbor, 34-year-old James Woodson, had beat her small dog to death in the street while she was at work.

According to a police report, the officers aid the dead dog was in a plastic bag with "extreme head trauma and blood all around its head."

A witness told police she saw Woodson throw a log at the dog, who was not in Woodson's yard, but in the street.

After that, the dog was stumbling to get up and walk away, when the witness said Woodson walked over to it, picked up the log and beat it in the head until it died.

Woodson is in the Tulsa Co. Jail on a $4,000 bond for a cruelty to animals charge.
