A Skiatook man is facing assault and child abuse charges after police said he strangled his ex-girlfriend and injured a one-year-old child early Friday morning.
Police were called to a home in the 200 block of E. Beech St. in Skiatook around 1:30 a.m. Friday on a domestic disturbance report.
When they arrived, the female victim told officers that she has a lot of male friends because, according to a booking report, "female friends have too much drama."
She told officers that her ex-boyfriend, identified as 37-year-old Timmy Barnes, doesn't like the idea of so many male friends and that she was getting text messages and phone calls from another man when Barnes became angry and wanted to see who she was speaking with.
The victim told police she was holding her one-year-old son when Barnes came after her, tried to grab her phone and knocked her son out of her arms.
She said the child suffered a bloody nose.
According to police, Barnes then held down the woman, strangled her and busted her lip.
Barnes was arrested and booked into jail on an $80,000 bond.
He faces charges of domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor, domestic assault and battery by stragulation and child abuse.
