Salina Man Taken into Custody Following Fatal Collision on Highway 66

A 52-year-old Salina man was taken into custody by the Kellyville Police Department following a collision that killed four Friday evening.

Creek County authorities stated David Ernst was arrested and booked into the Creek County Criminal Justice Center. Police stated he was driving the red pickup truck that hit a Buick sedan head-on around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

According to a release, four people were in the sedan and were killed in the collision. Those found dead at the scene were 74-year-old Vernon M. Bowles, 74-year-old Susie B. Frazier, 51-year-old Vivian R. Henry and a 9 year old who remains unidentified.

Authorities stated that Ernst was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released for the injuries he received in the wreck. Once he was released he was taken into custody and awaits formal charges from the Creek County District Attorneys Office.

Troopers closed the area off to traffic while the scene was cleared and investigated. Kellyville Police and the Creek County Sheriff's Department were also on scene.

No further information was released about the collision.
