A Tulsa Airport officer fires at a suspect who tried to run him over with a car, according to police.
The incident happened early Wednesday around 4:30am at the Hilton Garden Inn in front of Tulsa International Airport.
Investigators said the incident began as a disturbance outside the hotel. Airport officers responded, but it's still unclear what prompted a man in a truck to try and run over one of them.
The airport officer opened fire on the truck, with bullets striking at least one tire and the truck's side.
Officers tell KTUL.com the suspect in the car may have a gunshot wound, and that the driver is still on the run at this hour. Police describe him as a white man in his 40s with no hair. His pickup was found a couple of blocks away on airport property.
A witness told Channel 8's Kim Jackson she heard a total of five shots fired. Photos from the scene showed the ground littered with shell casings and evidence markers.
Tulsa Police will eventually take over the investigation. Stay with KTUL.com through the day as more updates become available.
