More layoffs are on the way for Spirit Aerosystems, the company announced in a news release Thursday.

While the final number of employees that will be affected has not yet been determined, workers at the aircraft parts maker will be notified in the coming weeks.

These layoffs will cut more jobs at its Wichita plant.

The news comes about a month after Spirit announced 360 layoffs at plants in Oklahoma and Kansas and three weeks after it announced that it planned to sell its Tulsa and McAlester facilities.

Spirit employs about 2,700 people at the Tulsa & McAlester facilities.

The company stated that the "reductions are the result of an ongoing workforce assessment designed to balance the workforce, reduce overhead costs, increase efficiency and drive improved performance."

Spirit plans to offer a lump sum severance payment and career transition services to those who are laid off, and lump sum severance payment and healthcare options to those who are eligible for the voluntary retirement program.
