Two Men Accused of Raping Woman at Illinois River Campground
Two men were taken into custody over the weekend on suspicion of sexually assaulting a girl at a campground on the Illinois River.
Authorities with the Oklahoma Scene Rivers Commission arrested Casey Strate and Andrew Dodson early Sunday morning. Both are being charged with one count of rape each.
OSRC Captain Bill James told KTUL that the incident took place at the Diamond Head Resort where a group of people had been camping, including the two suspects and the victim. All of them were reportedly taking part in a game of "beer pong."
James said that at one point in the night the female victim became heavily intoxicated a passed out. A witness told officers that Strate and Dodson picked up the female and took her to a tent where they undressed her.
She told officers that both men engaged in a non-consensual sexual encounter with the victim. When authorities arrived on scene the witness identified them as the alleged suspects.
Both are now being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
