Man Hit, Killed By Hit And Run Driver In Tulsa's Brookside Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

A man is hit and killed by a hit and run driver early Friday morning.

Police responded to 48th and Peoria around midnight. A driver pulled over and called 911 when she though she ran over someone.

Investigators determined she wasn't the first car to hit the victim. Minutes before, police said, an 18-year-old woman was driving down Peoria as the man walked into a dimly lit portion of the street.

But the teen didn't stay on scene. Tulsa Police Corporal Jarrod Hart said the girl got scared, drove straight to her house and told her father what just happened. Hart said due to the situation, it's too early to say for sure what charges she might face, if any.

"I think she just freaked, out went home and told her dad looking for some kind of guidance in the situation. I don't think she'll be going to jail tonight. It doesn't appear alcohol played a part, but she may be facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatality accident," Hart said.

Medics took the teenager to the hospital to be monitored for panic symptoms. So far, the victim's name has not been released.
