Fairmont Terrace: Prosecutors Hope to Finish Presenting Case Against Brothers

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa prosecutors are hoping to finish presenting their case Thursday against two brothers accused of robbing and killing four women back in January.

James Poore and Cedric Poore are once again due to appear in a Tulsa district court Thursday morning. Both have pleaded not guilty to killing 23-year-old twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, 33-year-old Misty Nunley and 55-year-old Julie Jackson at the Fairmont Terrace apartment complex.

Prosecutors have spent the week bringing forth witnesses to determine whether there's enough evidence to bind the brothers over for trial. Among the witnesses were Jamila Jones, James Poore's former girlfriend, and a 17-year-old boy who had been staying at the apartment complex at the time.

KTUL was in court when the 17-year-old stated that James Poore told him and several others that he and his brother, Cedric, had to shoot the four - who lived in the same apartment complex - because they recognized him.

Prosecutors say the brothers robbed the women, then shot them because they feared they would be identified. Defense attorneys for both men claim the evidence gathered in the case points to other suspects.
