Residents React to Former Deputy's Arrest for Child Porn

Posted: Updated:

It was at Robert Farrill's home, that OSBI agents executed a search warrant, finding they said, over 100 images of child pornography.

"Well I was shocked. I was certainly surprised that he would be involved in anything like that," said Loyd Cobb, an Okmulgee private investigator, who knows Farrill professionally.

"I've known Robert for a few years. I knew him as a law enforcement officer," he said.

In fact, on Farrill's Facebook page his profile picture shows him from 5 years ago in uniform as a deputy for the Okmulgee County Sheriff's department. Also on the page, postings pertaining to missing children, and under the Likes section, things such as "Savvy Parents Safe Kids" and "We are Teens." When asked about the arrest today, officials at the Sheriff's department said no comment.

"Of course, being arrested and being convicted are two different things so we need to let the evidence be presented in a court of law and try it there rather than in the court of public opinion," said Cobb.

Meanwhile, at his home Thursday night, relatives were both distraught with the situation and displeased with the media's presence.

An arrest with a double whammy, the first being the subject matter, the second being the position of trust held by the accused.

"Well, anytime there's an arrest made for something like that that's a terrible thing, however we have to keep in mid that law enforcement, police officers are human beings and their profession is subject to those things just like any other profession," said Cobb.
