Happy Birthday To Sooner Freshman Stanvon Taylor

Posted: Updated:

Former Tulsa East Central star Stanvon Taylor is celebrating his 20th birthday Tuesday and this has got to be one of the best years of his life.

Stanvon got his first college start Saturday in Norman against the University of Tulsa.  He replaced an injured Aaron Colvin and took full advantage of his opportunity.

He had three tackles and a couple of pass break-ups before he left the game with a minor ding.  Bob Stoops and the enter Sooners coaching staff is impressed by this Tulsa kid.

“He’s played the best in practice in being consistent in how he’s playing and what he’s doing.” said Stoops, “He played really well. He had a couple of pass breakups and tackles. He did a really good job. He was in position all day. He had to adjust the line once or twice because he gave up a play or two just how he lined, but those are some things that young guys do.

“Stanvon (Taylor) is great. He’s a great athlete, and a really conscientious and hard-working guy who’s going to have a good career. He’s a bright guy and he works hard at it. He’s talented.”

Stanvon is having a great start to his college career.  Five months ago he was going through high school graduation.
