Mary Anne’s Cherry Apple Breakfast Bread

Mornings are usually hectic and very chaotic around most households, including mine. Why not bake this bread one day and serve it for breakfast the next. You could even freeze individual slices to grab on the go and eat for a mid-morning snack. This bread makes it so much easier to take on the day!

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Dash freshly grated nutmeg

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup applesauce

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1/2 cup chopped dried cherries

1/2 cup toasted pecans

Note: You can substitute one cup raisins or ½ cup dried cranberries or dried apples for dried cherries.

Note: Perfect to serve with a cup of tea or coffee as a mid-morning snack!
