Tulsa Jail Detention Officer Arrested for Contraband

Posted: Updated:

A David L. Moss Justice Center detention officer was arrested after a cell phone used to facilitate a felony was discovered in a cell, Thursday, Sept. 19.

22-year-old Cory Jones, a detention officer at the Tulsa County Jail, was arrested after officers received information that Jones was bringing contraband into the facility.

According to Jones' booking report, a mobile phone was discovered in one of the cells. The phone was used by an inmate named William Hecimovich, who made calls to a woman that delivered packages to Jones.

The report states that the conversations over the cell phone discussed meeting "the guard" and then paying "our mutual friend" $100.

Jones met the woman at two different QuikTrips on two separate occasions to pick up packages from her. The report states that the first package contained tobacco, marijuana and a mobile phone with a charger and sim card. The second package included tobacco, marijuana and a lighter.

The woman decided after the second package to stop because "she was too nervous," according to the report.

Investigators took Jones into custody and during his interview, admitted to contacting the woman and meeting her to receive packages to deliver to Hecimovich, according to the report.

The report reads,"when asked if Jones knew what he was doing was illegal he stated, "yes". But felt like he was in over his head and couldn't ask for help."

Jones was booked into the jail for carrying contraband, conspiracy to commit a felony and use of a telephone to commit a felony. His bond is set at $25,500.
