Cowboys Face Another Road Test

Posted: Updated:

Morgantown West Virginia is the next destination for Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.  If it seems like the Pokes haven't been at home much lately, your right.

Their match-up with the Mountaineers Saturday will be their sixth game away from Stillwater in their last seven played.  That's dating back to last year.

These Cowboys seniors have had some pretty good success on the road.  They've racked up a 15-6 road record since 2009.  It would be much more impressive if they hadn't lost all but one game on the road a year ago.

Tulsa native Jeremy Smith says you have to have a different mindset playing away from home.

"I think the whole mindset of going on the road is it really doesn't matter where you play." said Smith, "You know football is football.  You just pretty much have to go out their and play like you're at home.  When you're away there's not going to be that many people there for you, but you have those guys that you practice with everyday.  That you bleed and sweat with everyday.  You just got to go out there and compete with those guys."

So far this season the Pokes are a perfect 2-0 away from Boone Pickens Stadium.

Oklahoma State and West Virginia kickoff Saturday in Morgantown at 11:00am Tulsa time.
