Homicide Detectives Identify Victim in S. Tulsa Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police homicide detectives have identified the man killed, and they are still searching for two other suspects.

According to a news release, Christian Patrick DeHart, 22, was the man killed in the South Tulsa triple shooting.

He was an army reservist based out of Wichita, KS.  Officers say he has no prior background with the police department.  They say the shooting was an attempted armed robbery, and DeHart was not an intended target.

Detectives interviewed and released Darrelle Goff, 24, after naming him a person of interest.

Detectives are now searching for two masked suspects. Both are males, but are an unknown race, according to the release.

Around 12:45 a.m. Friday, police said at least two gunmen pulled up to a home near 7100 S. 77th East Avenue.

The three victims were standing in the house's garage, where the gunmen approached them and opened fire. Police say there was an exchange of words, before the shooting. The suspects then quickly left the scene. A neighbor heard the commotion, came out of their home, saw the bloodied victims and called 911.

One of the men died, another was critically wounded and the third was treated for superficial wounds.

Police said the victims are all roommates at the home. A fourth roommate was not at the residence when the shots rang out.

Goff was located and released after detectives found there was insufficient evidence to believe that he had prior knowledge of the robbery or murder.

According to the release, detectives "...still find it hard to understand [Goff's] actions after the event."

The investigation continues and information will be updated as it is verified.
