Tulsa Murder Rate Soars Past 2012 Total

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa police are asking for your help, as the murder rate soars past last years total. This year so far, police have seen 48-murders and in all of 2012, that number was just 46

Police are looking for 2 masked men after a murder, near 71st and Memorial. It is the latest homicide and it is one of 8 open cases.

Police say murder was not the intent, in this latest case. It was robbery that led to the death of 22-year-old Christian DeHart. Now the search is on for his killers.

But this is not the only open murder case. Police are trying bring closure for families in 7-other cases.

The death of Gabrielle Bledsoe is still unsolved even though police say the suspect in her killing is now in jail on other charges. That's the deal in one other case.

Police say the murders of the four women at Fairmont Terrace was the start of 8-killings in 8 days in January and it hasn't slowed down since.

Police expect an 80-percent arrest rate this year and they know witnesses are out there. Police have a message to them.

"Those that turn and run or hide or don't talk, you're planning a shell game, especially if you live in high crime areas where they are all happening. You don't know when you are going to be the one," Sgt. Dave Walker, of the Tulsa Police Department.

Police say all of these cases are important to them but many can't be solved without help from the public.
