Golden Hurricane Looking To Bounce Back In Conference

Posted: Updated:

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have a huge football game Saturday as they open conference play against Rice right here in T-Town.  After a disappointing performance last Thursday against Iowa State, Tulsa is looking to avoid their first 1-4 start since 2004.

Coach Bill Blankenship and the guys have been in this situation before and responded with a seven-game winning streak back in 2011.

They must take the mindset that the season isn't lost.  It's only begun.  Conference USA play gets underway this weekend and Tulsa has a clean slate.

"It's even more so needed now.  That would be the same speech we would be having if we were 3-1 or 4-0." said Blankenship, "You really have to put whatever you've done to this point behind and say conference matters.  This is really our version of moving into an opportunity for postseason.  You've got to take this game as the first in a group of conference games that will define who we are and what we're doing later on in postseason play."

Tulsa hosts the Rice Owls Saturday at 2:30pm at Chapman Stadium.  The Owls enter the game with a mark of 2-2 and they are considered a three point underdog.
