Sequoyah County Man Charged with 10 Counts of Rape

Posted: Updated:

Sallisaw authorities arrested a 39-year-old man last month and charged him with 10 counts of first degree rape.

Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Shawn Jackson Sept. 19. Prosecutors filed the first degree rape charges earlier this month along with two additional lewd molestation charges.

According to court documents obtained by KTUL, Jackson was taken into custody following investigation by a deputy with the SCSO overseeing sex crimes including rape and sexual assault.

An employee with the Department of Human Services contacted the deputy back in August of this year stating that she had received a call from the Sallisaw Health and Wellness Center about a minor who reportedly had genital warts.

During the incident the DHS employee told the deputy that there had been an investigation on Jackson in the past for "allegations of sexual abuse" against two other minor girls. Previous records indicate that a woman made the allegations against him in 2011.

According to the probable cause affidavit, another deputy with the SCSO issued a polygraph test on Jackson who passed clearing him of the allegations. But a separate interview with the two girls alleges that Jackson had sexually abused them on numerous occasions.

Both girls detailed one incident that took place in his bedroom after Jackson asked one of them to rub his back. Moments later he proceeded to sexually abuse her.

Jackson was questioned by an investigator with the SCSO who told them that the allegations were false and a relative reportedly told them to make the accusations.

According to the documents, after further questioning Jackson confessed to committing the crimes. He added that he did sexually abuse the two older girls but not the other minor involved.

Jackson is now being held at the Sequoyah County Jail on $500,000 bond.
