Two parents were taken into custody Monday afternoon after their son reported alleged child abuse to school faculty.

Bixby Police arrested Teryck Griffin and Sheena Steele at their residences in Broken Arrow and Bixby. Griffin was booked on a child abuse complaint while Steele is being held for permitting child abuse.

According to a police report, an office responded to Bixby North Elementary School after being notified by a counselor that a 7-year-old was "afraid to go home due to the spanking with a belt he had received from his father."

School officials told the police officer that the child was afraid he would be spanked again by Griffin after being in trouble at school. He added that Steele occassionally calls Griffin to spank him.

After further discussion with the counselors, the officer was reportedly described bruising and linear marks found on the child's forearm, hip and legs.

According to the booking report, a medical evaluation was performed on the child who also reported Griffin hittingh him approximately 10 times. He added that "he is scared of his father."

Both parents were taken into custody and transported to the Tulsa County Jail.
