Former Victory Christian Janitor Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
A former janitor at a Tulsa
megachurch who pleaded guilty to making a lewd proposal to a child has
been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
A Tulsa County judge handed down the sentence
Friday to Israel Castillo. Castillo was remanded to the custody of
Castillo worked at the 17,000-member Victory
Christian Center. He pleaded guilty in August to sending lewd Facebook
messages to a 14-year-old girl at the church. He had no pre-arranged
deal with prosecutors.
Castillo had repeatedly pleaded not guilty, saying
he did not know the girl who received the messages was underage - a
claim refuted by prosecutors.
Another former church janitor, Chris Denman, was
sentenced to 55 years in prison last year on various sex charges,
including the rape of a 13-year-old girl.
