OU Is Set To Face No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday

Posted: Updated:

If you go by rankings, the Sooners will face its toughest test of the season this Saturday when they host No.10 Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders enter the game undefeated, having beaten West Virginia on the road this past weekend.

OU also won on the road - 34-19 over the Kansas Jayhawks - even though it might not feel like it to the players.

"I swear, we're one team, we don't enjoy winning enough. You get a conference win on the road, and it feels like you lost," center Gabe Ikard said.

"It's one of those things where we know we didn't play our best game - the first half was just terrible on both sides of the ball, we realize that. We've gotta play better early, we've gotta get started faster on offense especially, put the defense in better situations."

One thing that could help the offense get off to a better start is more consistency from Blake Bell and the passing game.

"We need to be more efficient in the pass game. That'll open up the run game more - we're running the ball for over five yards a carry, or around there - but it's one of those things where if we're able to throw the ball down the field a little more, we'll be able to stretch the defense and make them respect that a little more and not crowd that box like they are."

Texas Tech will enter the game Saturday ranked higher than the Sooners, but one thing could be in the Sooners favor come Saturday - and that's home field advantage.

Who can forget the atmosphere when a highly ranked Texas Tech team came to norman back in 2008, a game now known as the "Jump Around" game?

"It'd be awesome if we could recreate that atmosphere, everybody jump in and do their best to try and effect the game... build some excitement and all," says head coach Bob Stoops.

"We have to do our part - it's easier to be excited when we're playing well."

Sooners fans hope Saturday's game turns out like that 2008 one did - a 44 point Oklahoma win.
