Man Taken into Custody for Reportedly Driving Stolen Vehicle

Police arrested a man accused of driving a stolen car and leading them on a short pursuit early Friday morning.

Tulsa Police placed Ira Lee Wilkins under arrest Friday morning on one complaint of possession of a stolen vehicle and obstruction of a police officer.

Authorities at the scene told KTUL that officers had been in the area of 11th and Garnett when they discovered the vehicle Wilkins was driving had been reported stolen.

Wilkins reportedly caught onto to the officers and made an attempt to flee in the stolen vehicle. Police went into active pursuit moments later but the stolen vehicle spun out and crashed.

Officers arrested Wilkins and transported him to the Tulsa County Jail.
