Run In Owasso Honors Child, Raises Money For Disease Cure

Posted: Updated:

A run in Owasso is raising money to help families with loved ones affected by a rare genetic disease.

The Goldstein family lost their son Colby, who had Angelman Syndrome, to a tragic accident when he was four and a half-years-old. His family started this run to help similar families with medical bills and life's expenses.

A fun run, 5K and cross-fit challenge and even a fire truck pull helped bring people out to support this cause.

"Losing a child is the hardest thing that anyone can ever go through, but if I can turn it around and make something good of it, I think that's the best I can do to keep myself going, is to know i'm doing something good in his name," says Colby's mom, Arami Goldstein.

Angleman Syndrome affects about 1 in 15,000 babies.

Although cognitive development and speech is impaired, they are often happy babies.
