Initial Report Released for Plane Crash that Killed 71-Year-Old in Leflore Co.
A preliminary report on a plane crash in southeastern eastern Oklahoma that killed an Arkansas man says the plane was seen flying low shortly before it apparently crashed.
The National Transportation Safety Board report dated Friday says the last known witness to see the aircraft told investigators that it was flying low about 3:20 p.m. on Oct. 21. Investigators believe the plane crashed about 10 minutes later.
The crash near Talihina killed 71-year-old pilot Ray Broadbent of Heber Springs, Ark. The wreckage was found on Oct. 24 in a heavily wooded area after Broadbent's family notified authorities that he had never reached his destination.
Broadbent had left Searcy, Ark., on Oct. 21 on a flight to Elk City, Okla.
