Jenks City Councilors Make Decision on Firefighter Issue

A decision was made during a meeting Monday evening regarding an ongoing issue at the Jenks Fire Department.

City councilors in Jenks met for a regularly scheduled meeting Monday. It was there at they voted to authorize the city attorney to file an "unfair labor practice" complaint against the Jenks Firefighters Union.

According to a report from the Jenks Journal, the complaint will be filed with the Oklahoma Public Employee Relations Board. During the meeting Mayor Lonnie Sims stated that the city has no "intention" to file charges at this time.

Previous reports from KTUL state that the issue began after the Jenks firefighers filed a vote of no confidence against Jenks Fire Chief Gary Friedel.
