Sapulpa Couple Manages To Escape Truck Before Train Hits

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a couple is still alive after their pickup truck was hit by a train.

It happened after 8 o'clock Saturday evening near 91st & Frankoma Rd in Sapulpa.

Our crews spoke with the couple, and they said it was dark outside and they turned wrong and ended up on the tracks.

The truck was stuck on the tracks as the train headed straight for them.

They saw the train coming and managed to get out in time.

The train hit their truck, but no one was hurt.

"Any speed with a train and that much weight and cars, it's a very dynamic crash," says Trooper Paige Dowell.

The conductor said the train was moving at 40 miles per hour.

Troopers say no one will be charged.
