2013 Ford Award Nominee: Week 10

Posted: Updated:
"My name is Jeremy Smith. I play tightend. Number 89 and a fun fact about me is by buddies call me Zulu on defense because I tear up anybody that's in front of me."

You could also call him Ironman.  Because he rarely comes off the field.  Along with his 51 tackles on defense, he's also the Chiefs punter.  But their is no question which side of the football is his favorite.

"I like to have the ball. I like to carry the ball a lot. Most of the time when I get hit, I don't go down easy. I'm one of those player that when I get the ball I get a lot of yards after the catch."

Jeremy and the his teammates missed out on winning the district title last week, but he says their loss to Metro Christian has refocused them for a run at a bigger championship.

"Not a lot of people get to carry the ball their senior year, so being able to reel in another championship since 2004 would be fantastic. I think we have a really good shot in the playoffs if we just all come together and just play as one. One unit then I think there is no doubt in my mind that we can get it."

Jeremy has verbally committed to play for the University of Tulsa.  Jeremy Smith is your week 10 and final Ford Award Nominee for 2013.
