A court appearance has been rescheduled for a University of Arkansas student charged with two counts of manslaughter for a boating accident in May.

A Delaware County judge has postponed an arraignment appearance for John Stuart Deselms. He faces the manslaughter charges for the deaths of Trey Varner and Rachel Swetnam on Grand Lake.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Deselms' attorney requested a delay in the case. He will now appear in court in December.

Previous reports from KTUL state that Deselms was operating the boat under the influence of drugs and alcohol when it crashed into another docked boat killing Varner and Swetnam.

Officers reported that Deselms told them that he had 10 beers, a tequila shot and an antidepressant before the deadly collision,

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
