Bartlesville Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing Grandmother

Posted: Updated:

A Bartlesville man was sentenced to life in prison this week for the beating death of his grandmother.

Twenty-one-year-old Brandon Capps was given the sentence during a court appearance Wednesday morning. Prosecutors stated that he killed his grandmother in October of 2012.

A jury in Washington County convicted Capps of first-degree murder, unauthorized use of a vehicle, larceny and other charges.

A doctor with the Tulsa Medical Examiner's Office testified at trial that Hammer likely sustained at least five blows to the head. Authorities recovered a baseball bat near Hammer's body.

A report from the Associated Press stated that Capps testified that he had a blackout and didn't recall killing his grandmother.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
