A state department will begin taking applications for heating assistance next month for needy families.
Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services will accept the applications starting Dec. 10. An approximate $8 million in federal funds are available for families in need.
According to a report from the Associated Press, eligibility for the program is based on each household's income and assets. Only one payment per household is allowed.
Residents should apply at the local DHS office in their county.
