A Tulsa teacher was suspended this week for reportedly driving under the influence with her unrestrained child in the backseat of a car.
Broken Arrow police booked Kathy Boen on a driving under the influence complaint on Monday. She was taken into custody near 101st and New Orleans Street.
According to a booking report, an officer was notified that Boen had been possibly driving drunk. He stated that when he located her he witnessed her vehicle swerving and driving into oncoming traffic.
"I also observed a small female child, unrestrained in the rear seat of the vehicle," the officer described in his incident report.
Boen was described as having a strong odor of alcohol on her breath when the officer approached her. He also added that she could not locate her license and speak at the same time.
She was arrested after taking a field sobriety test and testing well above the legal limit.
A spokesperson for Tulsa Public Schools confirmed Boen's employment at Cooper Elementary. She will now be suspended.
