Mayes County jailer Aaron Peters was arrested Monday by the Pryor Police Department after he allegedly raped an inmate.

Peters is booked on a complaint of rape by instrumentation. The assistant district attorney asked to set the bond at one million but the bond was set at $50,000. The state has until Friday to formally file charges.

The sexual misconduct reportedly occurred at the Mayes County Medical Center. Mayes County brought in the Pryor Police Department to help with objectivity, according to Captain Rod Howell of the Mayes County Sheriff's office.

Peters has been terminated from his position, according to Howell.
