Funeral Services Being Held in Tahlequah for Three-Year-Old

Funeral services will take place Monday afternoon for a boy found dead in Tahlequah last week.

Friends and family of three-year-old Dakota Sanders are set to gather at 2 p.m. over at the Green Country Funeral Home. Sanders was discovered dead by authorities at the Stepping Stone Rooming House on Nov. 19.

According to a statement from the Tahlequah Police Department, homicide detectives were called on scene and arrested Buford Ellison and Jeri Sanders, Dakota's mother. Police Chief King stated that an initial investigation determined the child was either strangled or suffocated.

City officials also are discussing the possibility of closing Stepping Stone due to the conditions reported within the rooming house.
