QuikTrip Makes $12 Million Donation to New Tulsa Park

Quiktrip announced earlier this week that it will commit more then $12 million for Tulsa's newest park.

Officials made the announcement Monday morning and the total amount donated comes to $12.5 million from the Tulsa-based company. The 66.5-acre park is title "A Gathering Place for Tulsa.

According to the press release, QuikTrip will sponsor a 3.7-acre area of the park that stretches from the Great Lawn to the Lakeview Lawn.

Funding for the project was led by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which committed $50 million with the purchase of land near to River Parks and a midtown pedestrian bridge.

Kaiser is a lifelong Tulsan and one of the wealthiest people in the U.S. He's chairman of BOK Financial Corp. and a major shareholder in various energy and technology companies.
