Operation Toy Drop 2013

Posted: Updated:

There's just a little bit of time to help law enforcement bring smiles to sick boys and girls in a local hospital.  The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department is participating in the 2nd Annual Operation Toy Drop once again.  This is where helicopter crews from 14 law enforcement agencies from across the state use their aircraft to help Santa "drop" donated toys off at the hospital to be in the Sugar Plum Shop toy store.

The toys are not actually dropped onto the hospital.  Helicopters will land on the roof to distribute the toys and games that have been collected.

You can join in by dropping off new, unwrapped toys by the sheriff's office until December 5.  All collected toys will be flown to Children's of Alabama on the morning of December 6.  Later this month, parents will "shop" through the Sugar Plum Shop.  That is an in-hospital toy store where parents of hospitalized patients can get presents - free of charge - for their little patients or siblings.

If you're interested in learning more about the Sugar Plum Shop or helping out for the holidays, send an email to SugarPlumShop@childrensal.org.
