Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin declared a statewide State of Emergency due to the winter storms impacting the state.

According to Governor Fallin's press release, the prolonged sub-freezing temperatures and the possibility for bad road conditions and power outages, the emergency was declared.

"The weather is bad and getting worse," said Fallin. "Emergency personnel are coordinating with state and local officials to ensure we are prepared and ready for whatever comes our way."

The declaration allows state agencies to purchase items to prepare for any impending dangers caused by the winter storms.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management is working with local emergency managers, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma National Guard and other emergency responders.

Disaster relief and other agencies are standby with warming and feeding station.

According to the release, the executive order of emergency will last 30 days for all 77 counties.
