Posted: Updated:

The University of Oklahoma will face Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 80th Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, LA.  The Sugar Bowl will be played inside the Super Dome on January the 2, 2014.  Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Here are some quotes provided by the Oklahoma Sports Information Department.

"The Big 12 and the Southeastern Conference have been the two most dominant players in the Bowl Championship Series era," said OU Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "The University of Oklahoma is honored to represent the Big 12 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against another tradition-rich program like the University of Alabama. Our team is excited to compete in a BCS game for the ninth time under head coach Bob Stoops.

"Bowl games between longtime powers like Oklahoma and Alabama – schools with decades of championship history – are part of what makes college football so special. The Allstate Sugar Bowl and the city of New Orleans possess stellar reputations for providing a spectacular experience for student-athletes and college football fans, alike. I know our squad and our Oklahoma fans will enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to meet Alabama in a bowl for the first time in over 40 years, particularly in a contest with the storied reputation of the Allstate Sugar Bowl."

"The University of Oklahoma is looking forward to the challenge of competing against the University of Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl," added Stoops. "The Allstate Sugar Bowl has long been a marquee postseason destination, and we're excited about the University of Oklahoma being selected to play in a BCS game once again.

"The Sugar Bowl and New Orleans always provide a memorable experience for student-athletes and for fans. To have programs like Oklahoma and Alabama squaring off in January, that's a match-up good for college football. I know Sooners fans will be excited to make the trip to support us in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome."

"We're very excited to be welcoming the University of Alabama and the University of Oklahoma to New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl," said Sugar Bowl Committee President Jay Batt. "Each year, we have the pleasure of welcoming thousands of fans to this great city and showing off all it has to offer – world-class cuisine, trend-setting music, outstanding gridiron competition and more. We look forward to introducing our unique flavor of hospitality to all of the players, coaches, administrators and fans from these two great schools."

"We're very pleased to have the opportunity to host these two outstanding teams in this year's Allstate Sugar Bowl," Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan said. "The Sugar Bowl Committee has worked hard over the years to present outstanding match-ups that produce thrilling games. This year's game features two of the winningest programs in the history of college football, not to mention two of the most successful coaches in the country. We have little doubt that this game will produce another memorable chapter in the great history of the Sugar Bowl."
