McAlester Man Accused of Recording Women in Restroom

A McAlester man was charged this week with three counts of video voyeurism for reportedly setting up a hidden camera in a women's restroom.

A federal court presented Kenneth Elkins with the charges on Wednesday. Prosecutors state that he worked at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant and installed the hidden camera in the restroom and viewed at least three separate victims.

"The charges arose from an investigation by the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the McAlester Police Department.  The McAlester Army Ammunition Plant is within the exclusive jurisdiction of the federal government and therefore crimes occurring within the boundaries of the Plant are investigated and prosecuted by federal law enforcement," the release went on to state.

According to the statement released from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Elkins also faces state charges after a search of his home in the federal case turned up evidence of alleged additional crimes, including images of child pornography.

Elkins is next due in court Dec. 20 on the state charges and is scheduled for arraignment Jan. 15 in the federal case.

An attorney listed in court documents for Elkins in the federal case did not return a phone message seeking comment Wednesday.
