Attempted Liquor Store Robbery Results in Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Earlier tonight a man was shot in the torso and elbow after attempting to steal liquor from Bedlam Bottle at 81st and Lewis.

According to corporal Jacob Johnson, three men went into Bedlam Bottle and took liquor bottles without paying.

The clerk followed the suspects outside and confronted them with a pistol, Johnson said.

Reportedly one of the suspects tried to grab the man's gun and during the struggle one of the robbery suspects was then shot.

The three suspects then fled the scene, heading north, and upon seeing an officer near 61st and Lewis, realized they needed help and flagged him down.

The victim of the shooting was transported to a hospital for surgery and his current health condition is not yet known.

All four men involved in the incident were taken into custody as officers try to gather all the details of the event.
