One died and another was injured after a rollover accident around 1 p.m. today on Highway 169 and 51st street.
A white SUV was going northbound on 169 in the middle lane when witnesses say a smart car cut the white SUV off. The white SUV then lost control and crossed all three lanes and flipped three or four times, corporal Brian Collum said.
Both the driver and the passenger were ejected in the rollovers. Neither was wearing their seatbelt.
The passenger, Samantha Ruvalcaba, 20, deceased at the hospital and the driver Alvaro Mondragon, 20, was also taken to the hospital but it looks like he will survive, according to sergeant Boyes.
After the truck landed and ejected both of the passengers, it caught on fire. Officers and citizens helped to put out the fire.
The smart car left the scene but a witness followed it and got it's tag number. Police are currently in the process of searching for the individuals in that vehicle.
Corporal Collum emphasized that wearing a seatbelt increases a passenger's chance of survival greatly.
