Man Arrested After Reportedly Trying to Set Nursing Home on Fire

Posted: Updated:

A man was arrested inside Lakewood Nursing Home tonight after shooting a flare gun and reportedly trying to set the building on fire, according to corporal Jason Muse.

The man is being taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

After shooting the flare gun outside, which started a small grass fire, the man went into a nursing home dressed in army gear.

Police arrived quickly and arrested the man inside. When they found the man, all he had on was a pair of shorts.

Because the man did not initially respond to the challenges from the police, the police start shot pepper balls, which are basically paint balls full of pepper spray.

One person from nursing home was sent to hospital because of the effects of the pepper balls, but it was not believed to be a serious problem.

No one else was injured during the incident.
