Boy and His School Awarded $10,529

Posted: Updated:

Two individuals received $10,529 checks today announced by State Treasurer Miller and Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan as part of the 10,000 Reasons to Save Sweepstakes.

Fifth grader Jaxon Walters from Krebs Public School was the recipient.

As a part of the prize, his school, Krebs Elementary, also received $10,529 for its programs.

The money awarded to Walters will go toward a college savings account, which was started by the boy's grandfather.

“The gift of higher education is one of opportunity that lasts a lifetime,” Miller said.

“It’s that time of year that we search for the best present for our children, grandchildren and other loved ones. Rather than just giving the latest toy or electronic gadget, open or contribute to an Oklahoma 529 College Saving Plan for the young one on your shopping list. An OCSP account is the gift that keeps giving.”
