Unemployment benefits are set to expire this weekend for millions of Americans across the nation.
1.3 million Americans to be exact. And those benefits they have been receiving will end Saturday just days after Christmas.
According to a report from CNN, those benefits are ending because Congress did not pass an extension on the recession-era program that offers benefits for people who still can't find work when their state aid ends.
Earlier this week the Associated Press stated that the number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits had seen the biggest drop since November 2012.
But economists added that the figures from late November and December are warped by seasonal volatility around the holidays.
Senate Democrats are hoping to bring up an extension of the bill when Congress reconvenes in January.
