Mayes County Deputy Shoots, Kills Man After Encounter in Chelsea

Shane Bridges, 33, of Mayes County is dead Wednesday after being shot by a deputy outside of a residence.

A statement from OSBI reported that an unidentified Mayes County deputy was sent to a residence in the 13000 block of South 425 Road. It was there that he found a reportedly suicidal man standing on the home's porch who reportedly fired a gun at the deputy.

The deputy then went and returned fire which ended up killing the man. A report from OSBI said that the name of the deputy will not be given because he is the subject of the investigation.

Investigators will now look into the incident to determine if the shooting was justified.
