Posted: Updated:
A 17-year-old was taken to jail early Wednesday morning after reportedly robbing the Walmart on Brookside.

Initial reports state that officers arrested the teenager and booked him on a robbery with a dangerous weapon complaint.

The Walmart Market is located near 44th and Peoria.

"Probably five or ten minutes after the call went out, he was located in the area of 43rd and Owasso," said Sergeant Gary Otterstrom. That location is about a block away from the Walmart Market. Tulsa Police said a helicopter, K9 officers, and officers on the ground were in the area. A ground officer saw the teenager on a skateboard.

Tulsa Police told KTUL that the 17-year-old had walked into and out of the Walmart multiple times. On his third visit to the store, he reportedly approached the register to buy a candy bar.

"As soon as she opened the drawer, this individual walked around, placed his hand on her shoulder, and then she could feel a knife in her side and that's when he demanded the money," Tulsa Police Officer Jillian Roberson said.

The suspect had originally had been wearing a brown jacket and hat that he removed and stuffed in a backpack.

No injuries were reported during the incident. It is unknown how much money he took.

Walmart spokesperson Dianna Gee said, "We're committed to providing customers as well as our associates a safe and secure environment to shop and work, and we're just very glad that no one was hurt in this situation."
