An Amber Alert was canceled and a murder suspect is behind bars Wednesday after a shooting that began north of downtown Tulsa.
Police have placed Marquis Morris in the Tulsa County Jail and booked him on a first degree murder complaint. He's accused of fatal shooting Lemont Watson Tuesday night and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend's daughter.
KTUL reports that the incident started out at the Fairview Apartments at 215 West Fairview Street. It was there that emergency crews found Watson dead and that 11-year-old Odyssi Sam had been taken by Morris.
Officers with the Tulsa Police Department quickly initiated the Amber Alert for the girl and discovered shortly before 10 p.m. that she had been dropped off at a QuikTrip. She was not injured.
Dave Walker with the Homicide Unit told KTUL that Morris was located in Muskogee after a resident reported seeing him leave in a vehicle. Officers with the Tahlequah Police Department and agents with the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force assisted in the operation.
