Jason Leffler Remembered At The Chili Bowl

Posted: Updated:
The racing world suffered a tragedy six months ago.  Back on June 12, NASCAR journeyman Jason Leffler was killed while racing in New Jersey.  He'd been a mainstay at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa.  He made the A-main feature 11-times.

This year Leffler is absent from the track, but his memory is very much alive. Tony Stewart and Bob East have put together a Jason Leffler tribute car and fellow NASCAR star Kasey Kahne will drive it.

They are trying to raise money for a trust fund for Leffler's son Charlie.  At the end of the week one lucky race fan will win that #71 car driven by Kahne. Monday Kasey told us it was an honor to run his friends car.

"He was a good guy.  He was dedicated.  He loved racing.  He put a lot into it and he was a friend." Kahne said, "He enjoyed having fun.  He enjoyed his kid and his family. He was a good person.  We got along pretty good.  He had some really neat times together.  We'd been together the week prior to his accident.  He loved racing.  He'd do anything to get to race."
