South Carolina Court Dismisses Charge Against Brown

Posted: Updated:

A judge in South Carolina dismissed a contempt of court charged against Dusten Brown this week.

Court documents state that the judge dropped the charges Thursday after Brown reached an agreement with Matt and Melanie Capobianco. Brown is 4-year-old Veronica's biological father.

During the proceedings Brown was joined by the Cherokee Nation. Both sides were slated to meet for a hearing at the end of January.

Channel 8's sister station in South Carolina, WCIV, reports that the Capobianco's requested the court dismiss the case. And to permanently close the matter so it could never be filed again.

WCIV reports that both Capobianco's requested the dismissal because they are "happy and healing" and want to move on with their lives.

The Associated Press reports that the Capobianco's are still seeking more than $1 million in legal fees and expenses from Brown and the Cherokee Nation. The case is still pending in Oklahoma.
