Tulsa Schools Deal With Marijuana on Campus, 13 Year Old Arrested

Posted: Updated:

The evidence room of the school police department holds all kinds of evidence of crimes committed in Tulsa Public Schools. We saw more than one envelope full of "a green leafy substance," known as marijuana.  Another bag had digital scales and plastic baggies as well, all meant for distribution.

Campus police say a 13 year old was just arrested accused of trying to sell a bag of pot, for 25-bucks.

Distributing drugs at school is a felony and comes with an arrest.  Last year school police made 88-arrests. Most of those were drug related and marijuana was most involved.

"With 40 thousand kids, the fact we are making this few arrests, should not surprise anyone. Drugs are a part of society. Legalization,  it gives the perception, there nothing wrong with marijuana," said Chief Gary Rudick.

Possessing pot is a misdemeanor and student caught with it, are usually suspended and offered counseling.
Arrests for this year are down and on track to be lower over all than last year.
