Posted: Updated:

One man is dead and another being questioned by police after a deadly shooting near Pine and Wheeling in north Tulsa.

Police reports state that the shooting occurred just afternoon at a small apartment complex at 1421 North Wheeling Avenue. At the scene cops found Michael Lyke had been shot and killed.

Upon further investigation at the scene witnesses told investigators that the "person of interest" was still in the area. That man, Deandre Simon, immediately surrendered and reportedly confessed to shooting Lyke.

Investigators told KTUL that Lyke arrived at the apartment where Simon lives to collect money. Moments later a confrontation began that escalated into the shooting.

Lyke reportedly pulled a gun on Simon, who grabbed a shotgun and fired the gunshot. Simon was taken into custody and arrested for possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.

TPD's Homicide Unit stated that Lyke has been involved in past investigations with the department. He was reportedly a witness to the murder of Emily Clark in Feb. 2012 and also shot and killed James Mario Parker in June 2013.

The shooting is still under investigation and anyone with information on any homicide case can call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.
