Another well-known Oklahoman announced this week he is considering a run to replace Sen. Tom Coburn.

Former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating stated Thursday that he was looking into possibly replacing Coburn when he leaves Congress after this year. Coburn's made his announcement late last week.

"I've had a number of people call me to encourage me and at this stage, I'm just watching to see how things evolve," Keating told Politico in an interview. "I've not decided 100 percent no or 100 percent yes."

Previous reports from KTUL state that timing of the election is significant because any statewide elected officeholder or member of the U.S. House who runs for the seat will have to vacate their current post to become a candidate.

News of Coburn's announcement has sparked interest from several prominent names in Oklahoma politics. Among them being James Lankford, Jim Bridenstine and T.W. Shannon.

Keating has been president and CEO of the American Bankers Association since January 2011 and previously served two terms as Oklahoma governor.
